A Family Update…
If you are a Mom Struggling Well Patreon Member, then you heard this news a few weeks ago on a Patreon exclusive episode, but I’m finally ready to share our family update.
Neil is deploying with the Army for 12-15 months and leaves sometime this summer.
We knew this was coming, but I was hopeful that somehow we would be able to get out of it. But the closer it gets, the more it looks like he’s actually going to be going.
This is what he signed up for, and I’m so proud of him and will equally be bursting with joy and dying of sadness when he leaves.
Because I know you’re going to ask, I can’t say exactly when he’s leaving or where he’s going for security reasons. I will likely not talk about it a lot on Instagram, but it’s going to drastically impact all of our lives to have him gone for so long. I can’t even really comprehend it right now.
Awhile ago, I mentioned on Instagram that this new house came at the perfect time and Neil leaving is a big reason why. We actually didn’t know he was deploying until AFTER we had signed the contract for the house. I didn’t have a lot of support in Hamtramck, but I have two great friends on our new block and at least three more within 2 minutes of driving or a 7 minute walk.
Had we waited to start looking for a house on our original timeline of the Spring, we may not have been able to find one and move before Neil left.
So being here feels like we are in the right place to endure whatever the next couple years throws our way.
It feels like this house was waiting for us with open arms. I’ve felt secure and held and comforted since being here. The physical space we all have to spread out and live - inside and out - is such a gift. I still feel like I’m living a dream.
Plus, if you know me, you know I like to do house projects when Neil is gone as a way to cope. And there are a LOT of house projects waiting for me!
Thanks for being around for me. I’m sure Instagram is going to be an important part of
